PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Hearne Elementary School (HES) Blended Learning Specialist is a critical lever in improving student achievement and removing barriers to meet growth and achievement for all students. The Blended Learning Specialist is a new and integral position as we roll out blended learning with fidelity. The role of the specialist is to lead, model, create, and build teacher capacity and their instructional practices as related to TEKS-informed blended learning best practices.
A Blended Learning Specialist is an educator who models continuous improvement and goes above and beyond to ensure student success. The Blended Learning Specialist works collaboratively with the HES administrators, HES and HISD specialists, HES leadership team and HES staff. The specialist will inspire and participate in the development and implementation of a shared vision of future-ready education. Focusing on comprehensive integration of blended learning practices and technology-rich instruction to promote excellence, support transformational change throughout the instructional environment. They utilize a variety of instructional practices and technologies to collaborate with teachers, identify practices that will effectively address teacher and student needs, and help teachers implement those practices in order to close achievement gaps and accelerate learning for all students. The Blended Learning Specialist will demonstrate and model a passion for removing barriers in learning, campus redesign and leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Three or more years of teaching experience
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university in education or similar field
Master’s degree from accredited university in instructional technology, educational technology, curriculum, or similar field preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate

- Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation, and digital instructional delivery.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Supports principal and executive director as they increase student learning and achievement by implementing blended learning with fidelity as outlined in the School Action Fund grant.
- Oversee and teach during the asynchronous blended learning blocks.
- Collaborate and assist teachers in reflecting on lesson design, instructional techniques, and content delivery.
- Act as a strong advocate for personalized learning by providing instructional coaching and consultation with PreK-6 teachers in blended and personalized learning.
- Design, develop, model, and implement digitally rich professional learning programs that model personalized learning and promote future ready best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment.
- Assist teachers in using digital tools effectively for assessing student learning, differentiating instruction, and providing rigorous, relevant, and engaging personalized learning experiences for all students.
- Provide technical support for blended learning technologies to HES teaching staff.
- Create and support effective digital age learning environments to maximize the learning of all students.
- Engage in current research, provide school and district-wide professional learning, and disseminate information and other significant educational developments on the state and national levels regarding best practices.
- Engage in continual learning to deepen content and pedagogical knowledge in blended learning, digital tool integration, and current and emerging technologies necessary to implement effectively and sustain with fidelity.
- Model and facilitate safe, healthy, legal, and ethical uses of digital information and technologies.
- Develop and communicate the district plan for educating minors about appropriate online behavior, including interacting with other individuals on social networking websites and in chat rooms and cyberbullying awareness and response.
- Assist the district administrative team in establishing a calendar for professional learning.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents as assigned.
- Submit a weekly log to include schedule, training, support, and products completed.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
